Self-Care is Self-Love

Today, I want to focus on self-care. What is it? And why is it so important for us to have? First and foremost, Self-Care is what we do to take care of ourselves. It is identifying your own needs and taking the necessary steps to meet them. It’s about taking time to do activities that nurture your mind, body, and spirit.

Have you heard the saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup?"

That statement is so true. I know we are suppose to be seen as “Super Woman”, but even she has her limits.

It is so easy for us to get caught up in our everyday life that we forget about taking care of ourselves. We need to remember that self care is a reflection of self love. And when we don’t take care of ourselves as we should, we become stressed. And stress will wear your body down from the inside out. Do you have something you do to help relieve stress? If you don’t, you need to make that a priority on your list. To find something to do to alleviate the stress in your life. I know that all stress can’t be alleviated. Matter-a-fact, some stress is good for you. But remember that I said SOME. I will be talking about “good stress” that a little later on during this month’s Self-Care blog discussions.

So how to do you manage your stress? What do you do daily when setting time aside to care for you? This should not be something you do when you’ve reached your limit and respond to stress.

If you can’t figure out what you want to do in your spare time, here are some ideas:

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Painting

  • Spa day

  • Exercising/ Yoga

  • Getting enough sleep

  • Healthier diet

  • Surround yourself with positive people to talk with

  • Put at least 10-15 minutes aside for you to relax

This is only a small list of ideas that can be implemented in your daily life.If you would like to learn more about self care and how to incorporate it in our lives, there will be a free workshop held in April where I will be discussing the different aspects of Self-Care, how important they are, and how to handle stress properly.
